How can I join APA?

APA offers several membership options. PhD-level psychologists can become members of APA. Master's degree holders can become associates of APA, and a number of affiliate programs welcome students, high school and community college teachers and international psychologists.

Member — doctoral degree in psychology or related field. 

Associate — master's degree in psychology or related field. 

International affiliate — psychologist who live outside the United States and Canada. 

High school student affiliate —high school students interested in a career in psychology. 

Undergraduate or graduate student affiliate — enrolled undergraduate/graduate students taking psychology courses. 

High school teacher affiliate — teachers of high school psychology classes. 

Community college teacher affiliate — teachers of community college psychology classes. 

Life Status – APA member for 25 years or longer and over the age of 64.

Can I pay my dues or renew online?

Applications for first-time membership must be reviewed to verify your information. Once you've become an APA member or affiliate, it's easy to renew online.

How do I find out if a psychologist is an APA member?
APA members can be found in the Member Directory which is available to all current members. Once there, select "Search the Directory" to begin.
How do I join a particular division of APA?

There are 54 specialized divisions within APA, each with its own focus and membership application. Find out more by visiting Divisions or contacting the Division Services Office at 202-336-6013.

How do I change my name, address or other personal information?
To update your personal information, log in to the Member Directory and go to "Your Member Profile," then click on "Edit Profile" where you are able to make any changes to your information.
