Div. 49 offers dissertation award

Div. 49 (Group Psychology and Group Psychotherapy) seeks nominations for its student dissertation award, which honors a recent dissertation by someone whose research on small groups seems especially promising.

Only dissertations that were completed during the prior calendar year are eligible, but the research described in those dissertations can explore any group phenomenon and use any methodology to investigate any type of group. A committee reviews all abstracts and selects three finalists, who then submit complete copies of their dissertations for the committee’s evaluation. The winner will be announced at APA’s 2007 Annual Convention in San Francisco, Aug. 17–20, and the award includes $500, a plaque and a three-year division membership.

To apply, send a five-page, double-spaced abstract of the dissertation to Marcy Andberg, PhD, member-at-large to the Div. 5 executive committee, via e-mail. The deadline is Dec. 1. For more information, visit www.pitt.edu/~cslewis/GP2/awards.htm.
