Resource guide will highlight practicum
A new resource guide will offer advice on a variety of training and professional issues affecting psychology graduate students during their practicum training. "The Practicum Resource Guide," slated for publication by the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS) this fall, will include an explanation of the experience a practicum should provide and advice on finding a practicum, making the most of your time and securing supervision and mentorship. APAGS Associate Executive Director Carol Williams-Nickelson, PsyD, APAGS Chair Michael Madson, PhD, an assistant professor at the University of Southern Mississippi, and APAGS members L. Kevin Chapman, of the University of Louisville, and Nichole Wood Barcalow, of The Ohio State University, edited the guide.
"There are a lot of resources out there, but nothing comprehensive," Madson says. "This will bring together both student and trainer views into one seamless guide."
