Psychology by the bayIn August, more than 3,000 psychology students attended APA’s 2007 Annual Convention in San Francisco. While there, they learned how to balance work and family ("Tenure-track parenting"), connect with colleagues abroad ("Citizens of the world"), and sway legislators ("Speak out for psychology"). Also on the agenda: presenting, networking and photo ops.
“One morning when I was hurrying briskly down the streets of San Francisco to catch a talk at the Moscone Center, I recall seeing out of the corner of my eye none other than the distinguished Dr. Aaron T. Beck motoring past me!” Derek G. Turesky “I got to present with psychologists who are leaders in the training and education community. We were able to discuss the internship supply-and-demand imbalance with students at an informal panel and answer more global questions related to applying and interviewing for internship.” Julie Jenks Kettmann, PhD “One of the highlights of my convention experience was the camaraderie shared with my fellow APAGS leaders and members.” Candice Conner “Not only was this my first APA convention, but also my first time presenting in a symposium format. I also spoke with Janet Helms and several division presidents to exchange ideas and talk further about their presentations.
