Apply for Div. 43 student poster competition

APA 's Div. 43 (Family) is sponsoring a student poster competition for the best poster presentation on family psychology at APA's 2006 Annual Convention in New Orleans, Aug. 10–13. The winning student will receive $250 and have his or her presentation published in the division's newsletter, Family Psychologist.

Students whose posters directly relate to family psychology and have been accepted for presentation at the 2006 convention are eligible.

Members of the division's research committee will judge the posters and notify the winner prior to the convention. The award will be presented at the division president's reception at the meeting. To apply, send a PowerPoint version of the poster to Kristina Gordon, PhD. The application deadline is Aug. 1, 2006.

Call for nominations for the 2006 teaching awards

APA Div. 2 (Society for the Teaching of Psychology) is seeking nominations for its 2006 program of awards for outstanding teachers of psychology. The five teaching awards of $750 and a plaque acknowledge outstanding performance in each of five areas:

• The Robert S. Daniel Award for teaching in four-year colleges or universities.

• The Moffett Memorial Teaching Award for teaching at the high school level.

• The Early Career Teaching Award for the first five years of teaching at any level.

• The The Two-Year College Award for teaching at two-year institutions.

• The McKeachie Graduate Student Teaching Excellence Award for a graduate student.

The submission deadline is Jan. 18. Renominations and self-nominations are acceptable. APA's Div. 54 (Society of Pediatric Psychology) Executive Board congratulates its 2005 APA Annual Convention Poster Award winners. The winners are:

colored square bullet Lynette Dufton, of Vanderbilt University, for her paper "Autonomic responses in children with recurrent abdominal pain," co-authored with David Jones, MD, Sara Williams and Lynn Walker, PhD, of Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

colored square bullet Jon Grizzle, of Texas A&M University, for his paper "Social competence in children and adolescents with asthma and diabetes," co-authored with Robert Heffer, PhD, and Emily Davidson, PhD, of Texas A&M University.

colored square bullet Peter Duquette, of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, for his paper "Visual processing in pediatric chronic kidney disease," co-authored with Debbie Gipson, MD, Stephen Hooper, PhD, Eva Mamak, Crista Wetherington, Cheryl Flicker, Rachel Schoolman, Trevor Presler, Tonya Jenkins, and Maria Ferris, MD.
