APA Pre-Convention Workshop for Psychology Teachers

The APA Education Directorate is pleased to announce a pre-convention workshop for introductory psychology teachers, held with support from the American Psychological Foundation. All interested high school and undergraduate psychology teachers are invited to apply to attend; the workshop will be open to 60 teachers.  The workshop will start promptly at 8:45 AM; breakfast will be available at 8:00 AM.  Lunch will be provided for all participants.

Workshop Topics

The workshop will include the following topics: metacognition, hard-to-teach topics in introductory psychology (including statistics, understanding psychological science through lab activities, prejudice and the effective use of personality tests in the classroom), and improving student well-being.


The workshop presenters will be Elizabeth Yost Hammer, PhD, of Xavier University of Louisiana, Elliott Hammer, PhD, of Xavier University of Louisiana, and Annette Jordan Nielsen of Woods Cross High School (Utah).
