Five NCAVC interns each semester participate in empirical research on violent crime, including research design, data collection, data analysis and publication of results. Interested applicants must first apply for and secure the internship with NCAVC–which is unpaid. If they earn a slot, they are then eligible to apply for the Psi Chi grant, an award of up to $7,000 that supplements the NCAVC internship.

For information on the NCAVC application process, visit www.fbi.gov/employment/ncavc.htm. The NCAVC application deadline is Nov. 1 for fall 2007 interns. The deadline has passed for spring 2007 internships. The Psi Chi grant application deadlines are June 1 for spring 2007 interns and Feb. 1, 2007, for fall 2007 interns. For more information on the grant, visit www.psichi.org/awards/completelist_awards.asp#23. The cover sheet and submission instructions can be downloaded from www.psichi.org/pdf/fbigrant.pdf.

Applicants must be rising junior or seniors majoring in psychology and members of Psi Chi. Interns learn about science administration and cutting-edge research in psychology, and help directorate staff prepare for APA’s Annual Convention and congressional hearings. The grant will provide $2,000 to supplement the salary–approximately $3,500–paid by APA. The deadline for the 2007 summer internship is Jan. 15, 2007. The deadline for this year’s position has passed. The cover sheet and submission instructions can be downloaded from www.psichi.org/pdf/apagrant.pdf.
