offered by APA's divisions:
RHR International Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation
Award
Division 13 (Society of Consulting Psychology) offers this $1,000 prize to a doctoral
student or recent graduate for dissertation research on the theory or practice
of consulting psychology. The winner also receives travel funds to present the
award-winning research at APA's 2004 Annual Convention in Honolulu, July 28Aug.
1. The management consulting firm RHR International funds the prize. Nomination
materials should include a copy of the defended dissertation, a nomination letter
that praises the study and links it to consulting psychology and two recommendation
letters from the student's faculty or members of Division 13. For more information,

Division 22 (Rehabilitation) Student Poster Award
Division 22 offers a $250 prize to the top student poster at its 6th annual conference,
March 37 in Seattle. The deadline to submit poster
proposals is January 16. Submit abstracts via e-mail or mail to: Joseph

Division 42 (Independent Practice) Travel Scholarships
APA's Division 42 will offer five $200 travel scholarships to the five best poster
submissions at its first annual Student/Early Career Psychologist Poster Symposium
at APA's 2004 Annual Convention in Honolulu. Submissions on any type of research
relating to the practice of psychology are welcome. The

Division 44 (Society for the Psychological Study of
Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Issues) Malyon-Smith Scholarship
Division 44 awards this $1,000 prize to a graduate student for research on the
concerns of gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered individuals, groups or communities.
Applicants must be enrolled full time in a psychology doctoral program. The
proposal deadline is February 1. For more information and application materials,

Division 46 (Media) Student Dissertation/Research Award
Division 46 offers this $200 stipend for research on any form of media including
Internet, radio, television or print research/applications; multimedia telecommunications;
virtual reality; distance learning; telehealth and telepsychology services; and
product development. The award includes one year of free Division 46 membership.
Applicants must be graduating from a doctoral program and have completed the dissertation
between January 2003 and March 2004. Applicants are not required to be Division
46 members. The submission deadline is March 1.

Division 47 (Exercise and Sport) Dissertation Award
Division 47 offers this $100 prize for an outstanding dissertation on sport psychology.
Applications are due Janurary 15. The applicant
and his or her dissertation adviser must be members of Division 47 at the time
of the application. Applications should include a letter of support from the applicant's
adviser that confirms that the dissertation and doctoral degree were completed
by Dec. 31, 2003, as well as a 1,500-word abstract that sums up the introduction,
literature review, methodology, discussion and contributions to science and practice.

Division 53 (Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent
Psychology) Student Research Awards
Division 53 offers two $750 awards to support dissertation or master's thesis
research in clinical child or adolescent psychology. Applicants must be members
of Division 53 at the time of the application or submit membership materials with
the application. The application deadline will be in December

Division 54 (Society of Pediatric Psychology) Student
Research and Travel Awards
Division 54 sponsors three student research awards: the Routh Student Research
Grant for $750; the Student Research Award for $750; and the Lizette Peterson-Homer
Injury Prevention Award for $1,000, which is co-sponsored by the American Psychological
Foundation. The division is also offering Student Poster and Travel Awards for
travel to APA's 2004 Annual Convention in Honolulu. The

Foundation offers research scholarships
The American Psychological Foundation (APF), a charitable organization that
funds psychology education and research, invites graduate students to apply for
these scholarship opportunities:
The 2004 Henry Hécaen and Manfred Meier Neuropsychology
Scholarships
Two $2,500 awards specifically for graduate neuropsychology studies. The
application deadline is June 1. For information on applying, visit www.apa.org/apf/.
The APF/Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology
(COGDOP) Research Scholarships
Includes eleven $1,000 stipends and one $3,000 award for the top application through
the Ruth G. and Joseph D. Matarazzo Scholarship,
and one $2,000 award through the Clarence J. Rosecrans
Scholarship. Funding applications are distributed electronically in March
to all departments of psychology that are members in good standing with COGDOP.
Interested applicants can contact their psychology department for nomination information.
The application deadline is June 1. Applications
should be sent to APA's Science Directorate which administers the program
at the APA address. Each application packet must include five copies of:
A completed application
form obtained from the student's department.
A letter of recommendation
from the nominee's graduate research adviser that does not exceed three pages.
A transcript of all
graduate coursework completed by the nominee and a curriculum vitae.
An outline of the nominee's
thesis or dissertation research project, even if in progress, which does not exceed
three pages.
