APA workshops offer academic career advice this month
APA's Science Directorate is sponsoring a free workshop, held in multiple
locations in April 2004, that trains graduate and postdoctoral students on finding
a job in academe.
The workshop, "Entering the academic marketplace: advice from the experts," includes
topics such as how academic cultures vary across institutions and the pragmatics
of the hiring process. Accomplished panelists will share their insights and take
student questions.
The workshops are held in conjunction with regional psychology meetings.
- April 8, 2–4:00 pm, at the Southwestern Psychological Association
meeting in San Antonio.
- April 16, 3:30–5:00 pm, at the Eastern Psychological Association
Meeting in Washington, D.C.
- April 30, at the Midwestern Psychological Association meeting in Chicago.
A time had not been set at gradPSYCH press time.
Workshops are also planned for later this year, including at the meetings
of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society in New Orleans and the Asian American
Psychological Association in Honolulu.
To attend this month's or future workshops, send an e-mail to Science Directorate
Programs Manager Deborah McCall.
