APA Practice Organization
The APA Practice Organization, a legally separate companion organization to APA, advances and protects the professional and economic interests of practicing psychologists in a variety of practice settings. The Practice Organization collaborates closely with state, provincial and territorial psychological associations to pursue a wide range of advocacy efforts on behalf of practicing psychologists.
The Practice Organization advocates with legislators and other policy makers, the courts, health insurers and other purchasers of services, and helps members with their professional needs. Established as a 501(c)(6) organization under Internal Revenue Service (IRS) rules, The Practice Organization is able to advocate solely for practicing psychologists free of IRS restrictions that apply to activities of a 501(c)(3) organization like APA. The APA Practice Organization is housed administratively in the Practice Directorate.
